Vetter Mountain

The rebuilt fire lookout and the waning three-quarter moon

23 APRIL 2022 W6/CT-021

I’m writing this over three years later. I first did this hike with Cassie’s sister Deborah back on April 15, 1995. This was obviously a very early morning trip. One standout from this trip was that I bumped into Ara N6ARA on the way back.

I like this telephoto shot looking west of Hines Peak W6/SC-010 framed between Condor Peak W6/CT-027 on the left and “Little” Iron Mountain W6/CT-024 on the right
Looking east to Mount San Jacinto W6/CT-002
These hardy souls survived the Bobcat Fire. Venus in the morning sky.

I'm a graphic artist in the movie business. When I was a kid I got interested in astronomy. When it would get too cloudy to observe the heavens, my buddy and I would sit at the VFO of his Hallicrafters S 38c like safe crackers trying to coax faraway signals out of that humble radio. My love of astronomy and radio survive to this day fifty+ years later.
