This was a rest day. Craig enjoys a book in the warm sun. Books turn out to be important gear later on.

It was a great camp for a little rest and relaxation – compete with hot tub. We had zip thermometer gauges clipped to our packs that we used to engineer perfect soaking temperatures to our hot tub by minute adjustments to the inflow of hot water and cold glacial stream water with pebbles in the diversions. The rest of the creek was very cold but after absorbing calories from the hot spring, we could roll over into the cold water and not even feel it for a while. So refreshing!

Love this shamelessly staged shot of Jim and Mark in the hot tub. All the gear featured. Photo from Jim’s Camera. Click to enlarge all the props.
We say our farewells to Christian Nall, Steve Sharpe, Christian Franklin and Jim Jones as the depart to head home.

I'm a graphic artist in the movie business. When I was a kid I got interested in astronomy. When it would get too cloudy to observe the heavens, my buddy and I would sit at the VFO of his Hallicrafters S 38c like safe crackers trying to coax faraway signals out of that humble radio. My love of astronomy and radio survive to this day fifty+ years later.
